Our Beliefs
Below are TEN DOCTRINAL DISTINCTIVES that are the backbone of who we are. A complete statement of faith is available by request.
1. We are a TRUTH-DRIVEN church.
We believe the
Bible is God's Word, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and the
final authority on all matters of faith and practice and any other
subject on which it touches. We believe in the absolute and exclusive
truth claims of Scripture because God's Word is Truth. We believe in
preaching, teaching, living by, and contending for the truth of God's
Word. Therefore, we saturate our
ministry with Scripture because God's Word is the means through which the
Spirit builds the church by saving sinners and growing them in God's
grace.
2. We are a GOD-CENTERED church.
We believe God is
God-centered and works all things according to the counsel of His will
for His glory. We believe God is supremely joyful in the glory of His
triune Self (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). We believe we were created
for His glory and to find ultimate joy in His glory. We believe at salvation the regenerate sinner begins to
taste and see God's glory and rejoices in the hope of enjoying God's glory
forever. Therefore, we focus our ministry on the glory of God and being
a God-centered church because God-centered believers glorify God.
3. We are a CHRIST-EXALTING church.
We believe Jesus
Christ is supreme in all things because He is God the Son, the creating
and sustaining Lord of all, and the Head of the Church. We
believe Christ is the God-man who lived a life of perfect
righteousness, died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice, raised up from
the dead for our justification, and ascended to heaven to intercede for
us as our Great High Priest. We believe Jesus is the
exclusive Savior: the only way, the only truth, the only life,
the only path to the Father, the only Name by which men may be saved.
Therefore, in our ministry, we proclaim the supremacy of Jesus Christ
in
all things and we treasure Him above all else.
4. We are a SPIRIT-DEPENDENT church.
We believe the
Holy Spirit effectually calls and imparts new life to sinners so that
the spiritually blind see the the light of the gospel of the glory
of Christ and believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior. We believe the
Spirit indwells believers, guarantees their final salvation, assures
them of their adoption, opens their hearts to embrace biblical truth, produces fruit in their lives,
enables them to be killing sin, and helps them to pray. We believe the
Spirit sovereignly bestows gifts upon the church for the building up of
the Body and the good of others. Therefore, we desire the Holy Spirit's
presence and power in our ministry from worship services to Body life
to individual lives so that we pray according to God's will, minister
by His strength, worship in His truth, grow by His Word, and live by
His power.
5. We are a GOSPEL-LIVING church.
We believe the
gospel is the power of God to save and sanctify sinners. We believe we
should aggressively proclaim the gospel to all people with the
assurance that God will sovereignly call His own to salvation as He
pleases. We believe the gospel enables us to live God-pleasing lives
powered by grace and not by performance. We believe the heart of the
gospel includes the substitutionary death by Christ on the cross for
our sins and the perfect righteousness of Christ imputed to us by God
so that we have a right standing before God forever. We believe the
practical outworkings of the gospel enable us to live lives free of
guilt, debt, and sin's domination. Therefore, in our ministry, we will
explore and extol the glories of the cross so that we live by the grace
of the gospel.
6. We are a GRACE-LOVING church.
We believe God is
glorified by the display of His grace. We believe salvation is entirely
of God's grace in that the Father purposed the means and objects of
salvation from eternity, the Son accomplished the work of salvation on
the cross, and the Spirit draws totally depraved sinners to Christ. We
believe that believers live under grace. We believe grace is not a
license to sin, but rather, grace empowers us to obey God's Word. We
believe in helping each other to overcome sin; but even more so,
we believe in pointing out the evidences of God's grace in people's
lives and encouraging them to grow in His grace. We believe we are to
cultivate humility in our lives by realizing we have no merit in
ourselves and by relying fully on God's grace. Therefore, we desire,
acknowledge, and cherish God's grace in our ministry.
7. We are a JOY-PURSUING church.
We believe the chief end of God is to glorify God by enjoying Himself forever. We believe the chief end of man
is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever. We believe Scripture
commands us to find joy and true happiness in God. We believe we were
created with a deep longing that can be only truly satisifed by God. We
believe unregenerate man rejects the all-satisfying God and seeks other
things to admire that are much less satisfying than God Himself.
Therefore, in this ministry, we will spread and pursue joy in God with
all our might because He is the greatest pleasure and the
forever-satisfying delight of our souls.
8. We are a SCRIPTURE-OBEYING church.
We believe God's Word
is sufficient in all things pertaining to life and godliness. We
believe we are to obey Scripture for Jesus told us to observe all that
He commanded. We believe that by following Scripture we are transformed
more fully into the image of Christ. We believe the Bible clearly
teaches on many subjects including the complementarian view of manhood and womanhood; male
leadership in the church; the sanctity of life; heterosexual marriage;
and elder-led, deacon-served, congregationally-governed church
government. We believe Scripture calls us to be holy as God is holy, to
be distinct in this world as exiles awaiting a better country, and yet
to be salt and light on this earth. Therefore, we submit to God's Word
and joyfully follow its commands by the power of grace.
9. We are a PEOPLE-ENCOURAGING church.
We
believe a hallmark of a genuine believer is love for one another. We
believe the body of Christ is built up by speaking the truth in love.
We believe we are to encourage each other in the Christian walk and
bear one another's burdens. We believe true biblical love and
encouragement does not overlook sin but is demonstrated by praying for
and helping one another overcome sin in the spirit of humility and
forgiveness. We believe in selfless service for the good of others.
Therefore, we are committed to encouraging one another in biblical
truth and love.
10. We are a HOPE-EMBRACING church.
We believe we have a
rock-solid hope in Jesus Christ. We believe biblical hope is far
greater than earthly hope because the object of our hope is God and all
that he is for us in Christ. We believe the promises of Scripture are
precious and exceedingly great. We believe God's promises are certain
to be fulfilled because God never fails. We believe the greatest hope
is the hope of glory in which we will experience, extol, and enjoy the
glory of God forever. Therefore, we love to emphasize hope, knowing that those in Christ have a hope that will never
disappoint.
