Consider for a moment this irony: The world teaches us to think that we are special so we will have a high self-esteem, while also teaching that we are nothing more than animals who were lucky enough to evolve a little higher than other life forms. Thus, while telling us we should feel significant, their theory of origins tells us we are really insignificant. What is so special about having evolved a little higher by the hand of impersonal chance? The foolishness of this contradiction is illustrated in the video below.
In contrast, the Bible teaches us our true significance. The Creator God has made us special indeed.
“What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands.” (Psalm 8:4-6 ESV)
So which gives you genuine significance: The evolutionary view that you are nothing but a randomly evolved animal who is special because you have thumbs? Or the biblical view that you are a special creation by a personal Creator who cares for you, crowned you with the glory and honor of being made in His image, and bestowed upon you the dominion of His creation?
If we only evolved, we would have no creator to talk to – how depressing.
